TAROX Unveils High-Performance Brake System for the INEOS Grenadier

Osnago, Italy – TAROX, a world leader in bespoke braking systems, has officially launched a high-performance brake upgrade for the rugged INEOS Grenadier. Developed in collaboration with US partners Milltek Corp, this cutting-edge system is designed to deliver unparalleled braking performance for one of the most capable off-road vehicles on the market.

When approached by Milltek to develop a brake system for the Grenadier, TAROX engineers were eager to take on the challenge. With a kerb weight of 2,750kg (6,000 lbs) and the impressive performance of BMW’s B58 straight-six engine, it became clear that the factory-equipped 315mm rotors and sliding calipers left significant room for improvement.

“In our view, a vehicle of this weight, power, and purpose deserves more robust braking capabilities,” says Nicholas Counsell, Manager at TAROX. “The Grenadier’s under-braked factory system presented a unique challenge we were excited to solve.”

A Modern Solution for an Iconic Utility Vehicle

Inspired by the original Land Rover Defender, the INEOS Grenadier channels a heritage of off-road capability, and TAROX’s new system ensures it can stop as well as it can go. With limited space provided by the standard 17” wheels, TAROX’s engineers relied on advanced technologies, including 3D scanning and rapid prototyping, to design and refine a braking system that delivers uncompromising performance.

The TAROX brake upgrade builds on the success of the brand’s Defender kit, adapting it to meet the Grenadier’s specific requirements. The result is a system designed to withstand the harshest conditions while offering precise braking control and durability.

Specifications of the TAROX Brake Kit for the INEOS Grenadier:

  • Rotors: 335mm single-piece rotors machined from solid billets using TAROX’s proprietary steel learn more here
  • Calipers: TAROX F21 billet alloy calipers featuring six staggered pistons.
  • Pads: TAROX Enduro.118 high-performance pads for exceptional heat resistance and bite.
  • Additional Components: Mounting brackets, braided brake lines, and hardware for a complete installation.

The newly designed F21 caliper is the heart of the system, providing exceptional strength-to-weight performance. With a piston area of 672mm² and a lightweight design of just 2.1kg, the caliper comfortably fits behind standard 17” wheels, offering impressive braking gains without compromising fitment.

Performance Tested and Driver Approved

The TAROX team conducted extensive road testing to ensure the system delivered the desired performance gains. One notable advancement during development was upgrading to the Enduro.118 pad compound, which enhanced pedal feel and braking consistency under high-stress conditions.

“This kit is designed to inspire confidence, whether tackling tough terrain or cruising at highway speeds,” adds Nicholas Counsell. “Our innovative approach ensures the Grenadier’s brakes can handle heat buildup and provide superior stopping power, all while maintaining the rugged simplicity expected from a utility vehicle.” ‘’Our aim is not only to improve performance but increase durability and service life by using the highest quality raw materials engineered to last in the harshest environment’’
