TAROX take on the MK7 GTi
The Golf GTi has a long history with TAROX brakes, from the early days of the MK2 Golf right through to the present day TAROX has offered a range of big brake solutions for the popular German hot hatch.
With the latest MK7 version tipped to be one of the best yet, we were keen to be early on the latest MK7 platform and opted for a black performance pack vehicle to base the latest evolution of the TAROX Golf GTi big brake kit.
New from the ground up, the TAROX MK7 GTi SuperSport brake kit includes specific piston sizing to work harmoniously with with the original MK7 GTi master cylinder and rear brakes.
With a disc size options between 340-370mm and a range of callipers there are both kits for ultimate performance and those that can work with original wheels where space is at a premium.
You’ll notice that this MK7 GTi isn’t quite now it left the factory however, over the course of the project we have tailored the car to create our own perfect version of MK7 GTi. First and foremost, to increase the performance an APR remap and intake were fitted alongside a Scorpion exhaust system.
To improve the stance and firm up the suspension a set of ST suspensions STXTA coil-overs were added to the project complete with adjustable top mounts. Knowing the car would see track action during the development cycle of the brake kit a set of Cast 13 wheels shod in Toyo R888 tyres also joined the party, along with ST suspensions roll bars front and rear.
That’s not all though, a Japanese tuning vision was chosen for the GTi and to compliment the bronze wheel finish a Voomeran Euromagic bodykit was imported from Japan for the car. This included front lip, side skirts and an aggressively extended hatch wing. Out on the road the car has an awesome presence, especially when you hear the exhaust note.
