BRAKE SYSTEMS

TAROX brake kits are always tailored to the vehicle, offering drivers improved braking across all aspects of driving whilst maintaining a firm usable pedal.

It’s hard to imagine a tuning and modified car scene without big brake kits, but in 1990 there wasn’t. TAROX founder Gianni Taroni wanted to offer a ‘total braking solution’ for drivers of performance cars on the road; back then racing kits existed, but just for racing. Gianni used his experience in racing, engineering expertise and passion for driving to create brake kit 001 and where better to start than the legendary BMW E30 M3. Our caliper technology has moved on significantly since then, but the philosophy of the TAROX brake kit remains the same.

  • Not an off-the-shelf brake kit. These are tailored brake conversions
  • Offer a decrease in crucial un-sprung weight
  • Each caliper is built and tested by hand at our Italian factory
  • Calipers are offered with a standard hard anodised finish or custom anodised colors
  • Discs are often two piece and all are machined from the finest quality European steel billet

What our brake systems do

TAROX brake kits are always tailored to the vehicle, offering drivers improved braking across all aspects of driving whilst maintaining a firm usable pedal. TAROX kits also offer a decrease in crucial un-sprung weight and, very often, due to the slim profile of the calipers, fit inside an OEM wheel.

How we do it

All TAROX big brake kits feature calipers machined from the highest quality billet alloy and each caliper is built and tested by hand at our Italian factory. They can be specified with our standard hard anodised finish or custom anodised colours such as red, gold, green or blue. In most kits, calipers are combined with two piece discs with rotors machined from the finest quality European steel billet. These rotors are heat treated, faced, then hand finished, creating a perfectly flat braking surface. The bell of the disc is machined from the same high quality alloy as the calipers and is hard anodised for protection from the elements. Discs can be specified in F2000, Sport Japan, C83 or D95.

These are not an off-the-shelf brake kit. These are tailored brake conversions.

Evolving with technological advances

With the development of safety systems such ABS, adaptive braking, stability and traction control TAROX develops kits to work in harmony with all safety systems. When developing kits we use state-of-the-art live brake ‘mapping’ ECU plug-ins and pedal pressure sensors. With this we can achieve an accurate measurement of a car’s standard performance. These procedures allow us to gather data to ensure real improvements to performance, pedal feel and durability. TAROX tailors the size and number of pistons for every application, maximizing braking performance available from a vehicle’s master cylinder and brake servo without negatively affecting the feel of the brake pedal.

Tested to the limit

As of 2012, many TAROX kits carry a German Teilegutachten certificate. Testing subjects kits to grueling on road testing as well as bench testing. It’s our philosophy as a company to test. It gives assurance. It puts minds at rest. Not just to you as a customer but to us as a manufacturer. To governments across the world who want to ensure cars are safe and you are safe. Everything we do is tested. Sometimes to the absolute extreme – see details on our calipers burn freeze test which gives you an idea of how far we push our products.

SPORT COMPACT

TAROX Sport Compact brake kits take everything we have learnt in a 40 year history, transfers it, shrinks it, engineers it into something more compact and more accessible. With the Sport Compact kit we set out to engineer the full TAROX experience just in a more economical way. We believe it enables drivers the best possible transition from our class leading performance OEM disc and pad packages into a full race inspired big brake conversion. By combining years of experience at the highest levels of motorsport with our class leading performance aftermarket disc range we can give drivers the ability to unlock the full potential of their car whether it’s on the road or the track.

As with all TAROX kits the Sport Compact integrates with all modern day driving assistants such as ECS, ABS and dynamic driving aid.

  • Hand assembled calipers machined from the highest quality billet alloy
  • Heat treated high carbon one piece disc in either Sport Japan or F2000
  • Machined alloy mounting brackets with bolts
  • Braided & coated brake lines

The bespoke touch: all brake kits are tailor made, for the car and for you. Choose from a choice of caliper colors, rotor style and pad compounds to ensure your kit performs perfectly in any scenario.

SPORT

The ‘Sport’ brake kit is where it all began for TAROX brake kits. With most Sport kits available with our B32 6 piston caliper, the direct descendant of the 6 piston caliper used in the first ever TAROX brake kit -developed for the BMW E30 M3 in 1994. The use of high grade alloys to manufacture the caliper and inclusion of two piece discs, the likes of which had only been seen on the race circuit. TAROX founder Gianni Taroni decision to ignore convention and develop a 6 piston caliper rather than 4, combined with the use of such high quality raw materials was a revolutionary step that affirmed TAROX as a pioneer of performance braking.

Sport kits are the basis of our application guide with over 1000 applications. Sport kits will feature the B32 or B33 caliper with disc sizes between 300mm and 330mm. Discs are a two piece configuration and handed – left and right. The focus with a TAROX Sport kit is to ensure an increased level of performance from the system under both street and track conditions with a firm modulated brake pedal, while developing a kit that can be used in the vast majority of occasions with the cars O.E wheels.

SUPER SPORT

The Super Sport is an evolution of the original Sport kit. With the recent surge in the performance of Saloons such as the M3 and S4 and the arrival of formidable ‘hot hatches’ such as the VW Golf R and Ford Focus RS. TAROX developed a brand new caliper – the B360-8. Alongside the B34GT 10 from our motorsport range this new caliper allows us to offer incredibly formidable kits capable of being used on the road or track. The Super Sport series of kits feature disc sizes between 340mm and 370mm but when possible will still fit behind OE wheels.

These hugely capable kits will offer a huge amount of extra stopping power, better pedal feel and modulation, and can often reduce un-sprung weight increasing all aspects of handling while looking very striking. With amazing road usability and a proven record in competition the Super Sport kit is a necessary upgrade for the serious driver.

As with all TAROX kits the Super Sport integrates with all modern day driving assistants such as ECS, ABS and dynamic driving aid.

GRANDE SPORT

Designed originally to fill the increasing markets of high powered SUV and luxury sports cars, the Grande Sport kits are usually over 370mm in diameter and feature the striking B400RT and B40R 12 piston calipers. Application development of Grande Sport kits concentrates on some of the new generation of ‘super saloons’ such as the RS6, RS4, M5 and C63 AMG. Visually beautiful and with stopping performance to match they are the perfect choice for all performance cars fitted with at least 19’’ wheels.

Each kit uses a set of pistons carefully matched to the individual vehicle, so although large, these calipers always retain excellent O.E pedal feel. Discs are a two-piece configuration to keep the overall weight to a minimum. The discs are machined from the finest quality European steel billet before being heat treated, faced, and hand finished to create a perfectly flat braking surface. The bell of the disc is machined from the same high quality alloy as the calipers and is hard anodised for protection from the elements.

REAR UPGRADES

Rear disc upgrades are a great way of improving looks and performance on the rear of your vehicle when regulations from government bodies restrict the use of a hydraulic caliper. These kits in most occasions use a two piece disc with a spacer bracket to relocate the original caliper in order to accommodate the larger disc.
